Digitizer PEN ?

2010-07-20, 4:19 AM

Hi,

I have a ThinkPad model SL410 and wonder if it supports a digitaizer pen that would data input instead of a keyboard (input).   Have looked at the Lenovo's specs for SL410.  It did not come across as such.  But it seems that pen input technology should be picking up now....  idea / thoughts / info / pointer ?

Thanks.

Hi,

I've been using a Wacom Intuos3 tablet (digitizer tablet/pen/mouse) with my Thinkpad SL300 (Vista Business) for over six months, and I have yet to encounter any issues with the hardware, software, or drivers.    Even when alternating between the pen and Microsoft  wireless keyboard and mouse accessories, my computer has yet to slow down or shut down on me.  The Tablet PC Input Panel of  Windows XP/Vista/7 makes the pen work with pretty much any application for more info, go here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms818563.aspx .

I recommend checking out Wacom's website to see what kinds of requirements exist for some of the products out on the market now ( http://www.wacom.com/index2.php ).

I hope that this helps!  Good luck!

Meg,

Thanks, that's very helpful.  I tried a quick search for Waco PEN and visisted its website briefly last night.  Question, what do you use Wacom Intuos3 tablet with ThinkPad for?  Art work, drawing?  Or writing notes in a more "natural" way or both?   How much is it?  Also, the Wacom website indicates that its PEN would work with its own tablet only, too bad for its lack of generic appeal, options?

unless you have the tablet, the digitizer pen won't work with the laptop's LCD or Touchpad as a form of input device.
