L340-17IRH Function Keys not working after system update

Why, every time I do a Lenovo system update, do my fuction keys get all screwed up?!?

It might help to know just which computer you have and a little more detail about what "screwed up" means.

 

IME, it's not uncommon for a Windows Update to reset settings done through Vantage.

So, after the update, do you mean you have to go back into Vantage or BIOS to change the behavior of the function keys back to the way you want them? Or do they not work at all for any purpose?

That turns off your touchpad. Press Fn + F6 and that should work as expected.  You'll need to go into Lenovo Vantage or into the BIOS screens to reset the function keys' behavior.  Like I said, it's pretty common for Windows updates to switch those back. Fn+Esc works on some Lenovo computers, though I think that's mostly the Think line.
