Issue with Battery Or Power Manager for SL410

2010-03-26, 0:53 AM

I received Lenovo 3 days back and facing some weired issue with Battery. It sometimes doesn't charge at all and stays constant. When I did some more reasearch found that with Power Manager -> Advanced -> Battery maintenance there is one setting to keep the threshold for battery charging. When I keep it to 95 % -100 % and if I drain my battery below 95 % it should start charging else between 95% to 100 % it should logically not charge. But this functionality is weird and works sometimes or not . And when I spoke to Tech. support they were not clear about this issue and said I can return my laptop.  Anyone has any clue about this issue? I really don't want to give my laptop back only for small reason for which I am not sure how it should function.

Did you try updating Power Manager Driver and Application to the latest version?

O.K. I think I had the same problem as you, but after updating of various Lenovo drivers and software it seems to be all right now. Nowadays I use laptop without battery only with AC adapter, so I have installed battery to answer your post. I have discharged battery to 91%, in Power Manager chose thresholds 95% - 100% as you did, and everything works fine for me, the battery is charging.

Another issue I seen. My battery was 100% charged and I shut down windws and pulled AC cord from wall. Next day I again plugged-in AC cord and started Laptop. It should have shown me 100 % as it was totally shut-off but it shown me batttery life of only 98 %. Is this expected ? I don;t think any Laptop will consume such amount of power although it is switched off in 8 hrs.

Hi,

I must thank you as this issue is resolved now. It is although weird , don;t know why is this setting only for Thinkpad Series. I have Lenovo Y 3000 and also Toshiba but I never faced this issue with both of them.

Thanks a lot again.
