Keyboard failure

2021-04-19, 14:14 PM

Hello,

Recently, since 3 days ago exactly i noticed that my keyboard left keys are not working properly, heres the details:

  1. left shift key is not responding at all whenever i click
  2. caps lock key is not responding, when pressed enough times, the light will keep twitching, continuous press makes the light go crazy as if someone is pressing and unpressing too much times
  3. tab key is completely dead
  4. f3 key is not responding at all

i've uninstalled, reinstalled new windows version to try to fix it, but no solution here

i've uninstalled, reinstalled keybaord drivers to try to fix it, no solution here

i've tried resetting the language but to no avail

i'm using the left keys heavily on my work, the laptop is fairly new (1.5 years old)

no damages on the keyboard at all, nothing spilled on it

can you please help

Hello Zeyad1,

Greetings

I suggest that you share the machine type model / MTM (ex. 81C70000RK) from the sticker as it would help us detail more about your machine variant.

It would also help running diagnostics.

Update us how it goes.

Regards,
Lorenzo_Lenovo

Sorry for the late response.

Best to try is to update the drivers and BIOS thru the support site.
Then try the steps here:
https://support.lenovo.com/ph/en/solutions/ht103985-keyboard-keys-may-not-work

Hope this helps

Based on the support site, you're computer is an IdeaPad L340-15IRH Gaming Laptop Type 81LK.
Since we tried those steps stated above, the next course of action is to remove the keyboard assembly: check the cable connections (clean if necessary).

Then reconnect the parts back, make sure everything I properly seated.

Refer to the hardware maintenance manual for guidance.

If problem persists, it would be best to reach out to the tech support for your region.
