R30 USB PORTS GET S MY WIRELESS MOUSE NANO-RECEIVER VERY HOT

2010-03-28, 2:29 AM

Just wondering if anybody with an R30 or R40 has experienced their LOGITECH V450 wireless mouse  nano-receiver getting really hot or short-circuiting.

I had an R40 which ruined my Microsoft Arc -Mouse nano-receiver and just bought this used R30 and its doing the same thing with another brand wireless mouse plug-in.

Is it normal for this era thinkpad R series to get thses new small nao-receivers  really hot cause nano-receivers weren'tt out on the market yet when the R series came out?

Whats the current output of this R30's USB ports each.

When I plug in a cord mouse  into the usb ports , the male USB plug from the mouse is just warm,as are any usb sticks.

thanks for reading

maybe you could get a PCMCIA usb card and use the wireless nano-receiver in that.

thanks lead_org for the call.

ya I could do that but I'll just use a cord mouse which costs next to nothing as opposed to a $40-50 wireless nano-mouse.

Just curious if the R30/40/?? series has high output amperage USB ports or is there a mobo issue with the usb ports?

I have the same problem with my Lenovo Ideapad Y550P - the USB ports already ruined 2 (two!) nano receivers that came with my wireless mobile mouse 4000 from Microsoft.  It works fine for a while, until one day the receiver gets really hot and short-circuited.  As good as garbage now.

I called MS (2nd time) and they told me it's the mobo's problem.

What should I do?
