R50 Wireless upgrade - Drivers are listed but card is not

2009-06-02, 12:56 PM

I have an R50,1830-6FU, with the Lan 2100 3B Mini PCI card.  I'd like to upgrade to wireless N.  I find no "N" wireless card in the list of supported hardware cards on the hardware page:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-53115.html#17

On the driver support page for the R50 a driver is listed for the Intel PRO/Wireless 4965agn Mini PCI adapter.   Will this card work in my PC even though it is not listed on the hardware support page?  Or should I just buy a USB or PCMCIA Wireless adapter and be done with it?

Welcome to the forum!

Your machine takes a mini-PCI, not a mini-PCI-e card, so you won't be able to utilize 4965agn.

Nothing wrong with a good PCMCIA card, though...

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

George

Welcome to the forum, Quaser!

You've provided great links for getting rid of errors, however, OP's issue is that the mini-PCI-e card can't be inserted in a mini-PCI slot...

Cheers,

George
