R61 - Quadro NVS 140M

2008-02-20, 11:01 AM
Hello

I have Quadro NVS 140M graphic card in my notebook and i have a problem.

The problem i have is that in Vista the graphics are very slow and they freeze from time to time. So i am asking if there are any older drivers which would work better with this video card?

I have the latest drivers from lenovo installed.

Thanks in advance

this is the problem with Vista..... it occurs in x3100 cards too.... best thing to minimise the problem is to upgrade ram..... i have 3 gig of Ram in R61i... yet it performs slower than my T40 running xp even with just 512 mb ram installed...... i hope much of the problem would be recified when Vista sp1 comes out......

If you want to roll back the driver to the one installed from the factory go to C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\VIDEO and double click on setup.

Vista is WAY faster than XP, you just need to have lots of RAM (which is cheap, 4GB <$80, I recommend 3GB unless you're running 64 bit), and you need to let Vista optimize, so it will (and does as proven by tests at Tomshardware.com) learn and optimize the files you use frequently. Also, I *highly* recommend using Vista's SpeedBoost with a flash drive. I run Vista on an X61 tablet, and both on XP and Vista the thing was a dog, but throw in a 4GB flash disk and let open all the programs you use frequently, wait for it to stop nailing your hard drive and SD slot/USB drive, and you will be easily 10X faster than it was before. (I get 8GB Transcend ones from newegg for $33, but SpeedBoost currently only uses up to 4GB)
