SL510 Touchpad displays a "button", not arrow. How to change it?

2014-09-13, 18:52 PM

Hello,   Just got a Thinkpad SL510 2847 D2U, Windows 7 Prof.(64 bit).

Often when I touch the Touchpad I see the arrow on screen change to a "button" being displayed.  And the button is not like using the arrow.  Very difficult to work with it.  So I keep moving around Touchpad to get rid of the "button" and return to arrow.

Does anyone know how to rid of this "button" action?  Or what am I doing to cause it?

I believe I have changed the sensitivity of the touchpad.  I'll check again.

Thank you very much!

Does the "button" have sort of a swirled look?

If so, that is "chiral motion" scrolling, you can rotate finger to scroll up and down.

Keep finger in center, or can be disabled in touchpad properties.

Are you using a "theme"? Disable Allow Themes To Change... in pointer options.

If neither of these, maybe a screenshot of this Button

Hi Duck,

Thank you so much for responding.  Yes there is that swirl look.  And I don't want any extra features...just the arrow.  I thought I removed anything from the settings, but I'll check about themes.  I do recall checking white arrow just to make sure.

So let me work on making a snapshot of it and showing here.  Are there instructions how to post a snapshot in these emails?  Never did this before.

Also, I'll try do this tomorrow because this laptop is located at work.

I appreciate it very much!

So it is "chiral motion" setting in Ultranav scrolling options.

No need to post screenshot.

It is not part of a Theme.

Press Windows key - Type Mouse - Click Mouse at top of list -

Click Navpad in mouse properties - Touchpad-Settings -

Scrolling - One finger scrolling - Uncheck Chiral Motion

This helped me too

Guru,

Thank you so much!  That was the fix.

I sure would have never know how to find this path to changing this setting.

THe annoyance is gone.

Thank you again!
