ThinkPad L380 Yoga - Palm rejection not working while charger is plugged

2019-07-08, 0:36 AM

  • OS: Windows 10 Pro x64, version 1903, OS build 18362.207
  • BIOS: R0RET38W 1.21
  • Pen: ThinkPad Pen Pro for L380 Yoga (01LW769)
  • Power adapter: Lenovo 45W Standard AC Adapter (USB Type-C)
  • Lenovo Vantage: Version
  • All drivers are up-to-date

Steps to reproduce

1. Plug the power adapter's USB Type-C connector to the laptop.

2. Don't plug the other end of the power adapter into a power outlet.

3. Hover the stylus over the screen until the cursor is displayed.

4. Place your plam on the screen and move your hand.

Expected Result

The cursor should be smooth as you move the stylus around the screen, which it is once you unplug the charging cable from the laptop.

Actual Result

Palm rejection fails once the USB Type-C charging cable is fitted into the laptop's charging port. It does not matter if the power adapter is connected to a power source.

Same problem, except only happens when charger is plugged into a socket. If I place my other hand on the back of the display, the problem goes away.
