ThinkPad R61 Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M graphic card failure - blank screen

2010-11-22, 14:01 PM

Hello,

Sadly I have to report that Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M graphic card has died in my ThinkPad R61 which is  out of warranty of course. It is now officially confirmed by the IBM service. What steps should I take to get a replacement due to generic manufacturer fault? I see that particular GPUs have the same problem in a very large number of laptops containing the Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M graphic card. By now it should been noted as a factory fault by Lenovo. Is Lenovo still denying the fact or is there a chance that I can get a free replacement.

Lenovo should do something due to the this fact:

Nvidia disclosed that due to a manufacturing flaw, some of their laptop computer graphics processors and chipsets are overheating and failing.
