ThinkPad SL510 Processor and Screen upgrade

2014-07-05, 17:48 PM

I've got a ThinkPad SL510 model 2847-9UU and I would like to upgrade the processor and the LCD screen.

Looking at different documents shared here I found these two parts:

Intel Core i7-620M Processor (2.66 GHz)

15.6 inch (1600x900) HD+

I was wondering if I can just buy the parts and replace them. Is there any compatibility issues I should be aware of? If the i7 is not an option is the T9600 (2.80 GHz) my best next choice?

My laptop right now has a 1366x768 resolution. Will the 1600x900 display work? Has anybody here made these upgrades?

First, the T9600 and the I7 are different sockets, I think.
The T9600 should be the correct socket, though I do not know if compatible.
What cpu do you have now?

As for the LCD swap, may not work due to different cabling, etc.
Would be nice, though!
