Thinkpad L14 Ryzen 7 4750U ultrawide screen refresh rate problem

2021-01-25, 17:00 PM

Hi, I've L14 Ryzen 7 4750U laptop, in my office I am using 4k monitor in 60hz without problem, with USB-C, docking station. At home I have iiyama GB3461WQSU 34" ultrawide monitor with 3440x1440 resolution. I connected my laptop with HDMI, (the cable is HDMI 2.1 ) but I can only get 30hz refresh rate at 3440x1440 resolution. I've latest AMD radeon driver.

As you can see in 3440x1440 it shows only 30 Hertz, and for some reason driver defines my monitor as PL3461WQ (which is not, it is GB3461WQSU)

https://ibb.co/qsyq35y

I looked the the product specification for L14 AMD and it says via HDMI it supports 4k@60hz, also I think it should support 3440x1440@60hz too.

So what can be the problem? Or really L14 HDMI isn't supporting 3440x1440 @ 60hz?

okey I looked the wrong documentation, lenovo L14 have HDMI 1.4, according to wiki, HDMI 1.4 only supports 3840 × 2160 @ 30hz, so I think it is normal to also support 3440x1440 @30hz

Then my question is, without using docking station, is it possible to get 3840 x 2160 @ 60hz or 3440 x 1440 @ 60hz in lenovo L14 model and how?

Hello xsenko,

Welcome to Lenovo Community

For Monitor Support, L14 can handle up to 4 independent displays via native display and 3 external monitors; supports external monitors via HDMI® (up to 4096x2160@24Hz) or USB-C (up to 3840x2160@60Hz)

You can check the PSREF

Hope this helps
