Trackpoint or Mouse freeze on start-up R61 running XP & Word 2003

2012-09-03, 13:23 PM

Ever since I bought my second hand R61 Laptop, it has noticeably been different from my first laptop, R60e.

Sometimes it refuses to shut down, proclaiming that another user is the reason.

Often, either on Startup or after coming out of hibernation/standby mode, the mouse freezes.

A frozen mouse always results in having to shut down the computer again, as a Forced Shutdown, as

there appears to be no other way to establish communication with my device.

Regularly, once the mouse has frozen, it may take up to 4 startups for it to go back to normal.

Anyone experienced this?   Ideas on a fix?

Welcome to the forum!

What's the condition of your battery? Try removing it and running the machine on AC adapter only to verify whether the problem persist.

Cheers,

George
