USB C charging slot damaged

2020-10-25, 17:35 PM

Dear Lenovo Community!

A few months ago something happened with the USB-C charging slot of my L380 Yoga. I think it shortcircuited but I'm not sure (it smelled kinda burned). The orginal cable broke on only "one side."

I went to a repair service and he found out that I can still use the other USB C slot and the same charging cable, but only if I put it in with the right side up (one orientation works, the other doesn't).

He said that if I want to fix the broken charging slot a lot more than just the slot has to be changed. First question: is this right? Or is there still an option to save this slot?

Second question: What can I do that the second slot does not burn too? Should I get a new Lenovo cable? Do I need to clean the slot reguarly? Can I use certain porducts to save this piece of hardware, sth like an adapter?

I am very happy for every answer that comes up with ideas and hope to cause a productive discussion about the USB C slot.

barely charging ;)
