USB power on R61i

2008-02-22, 15:42 PM
Does anyone know the mA power output on the R61i (model 8932-CTO).  I'm thinking about getting the Western Digital external HD, but it requires 650 mA from the USB port, otherwise it needs the usb power booster cable.  And I have only one USB port to spare.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.  I'd also be curious to know if there's any documentation of this in some sort of System Info display on the laptop itself.

Thanks again.

it should have 5.0 V dc and 450 mA or abouts.... should be ok to run it without booster cable... i never use any booster cables at all for my external laptop harddrives.... alternatively get a usb hub with power supply.....

Go into Control Panel\System\Hardware\Device Manager
Click on the + before USB Controllers.
Then rightclick on each USB Root Hub, select Properties, and then Power tab.
Under Hub Information, it will give you the available power.
