Battery Firmware Update Fail

Hello,

I'm using a Lenovo SL510 Model: 284799G - NSL99TX. When I try to install it, it fails with a message "The tool was unable to update the battery firmware due to an internal error"

I'm using the latest firmware 1.41.

Any ideas?

Regards,

ilker

Re: Battery Firmware Update Fail

Try the solution offered by jabkels here:- http://lnv.lithium.com/t5/ThinkVantage-Technologies/T410-battery-firmware-update-fails/m-p/307160#M1...

Another user said that his battery was faulty, so if above doesn't help then ask lenovo support to replace your battery under warranty.

Keep us posted.

Re: Battery Firmware Update Fail

Battery  wouldn't charge today. New machine (six months old) SL500

How do i determine if it is the charger, the battery, or the mobo?

Re: Battery Firmware Update Fail

I think only sure way to tell what's wrong is by getting it checked up by lenovo. Alternatively, if you can borrow compatible battery and adapter from someone, then you can determine which part is at fault, but if both battery and adapter don't remedy the issue, then it's probably the mobo.

Hope this helps.

Re: Battery Firmware Update Fail

Thanks for the reply. I was bummed to learn via the lenovo website that although this unit was bought brand new in the box only five months ago, the warranty is expired. Pretty cheesy. So I went ahead and bought a charger of ebay figuring it was the quickest cheapest first stab at it. Since it is on my dime anyway. ; (

I noticed the charger brick ran very hot and am thinking it cooked itself.  I will know for sure in a couple days.

Lenovo might find its way on the short list of computer brands I will never buy again.  Toshiba is on that list.

Re: Battery Firmware Update Fail

You can get warranty date corrected by contacting lenovo, they will probably ask you to send them a copy of original receipt, see this thread too:- http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/General-Discussion/Correcting-inaccurate-warranty-expiration-date/td-p/3...

Hope this helps.
