Brand new Lenovo ThinkPad L590 - Backlit does not work.

Hi, I received my brand new Lenovo ThinkPad L590 two weeks ago. Backlit keyboard has never worked. I have tried every step in this guide, but  can’t find the backlit options in Lenovo Vantage?

Still does not work. Any suggestions?

Welcome to our forums community.

 

Have you tried pushing the Fn key and the backspace key together? Base on the product reference: https://psref.lenovo.com/Product/ThinkPad/ThinkPad_L590. The backlit keyboard is optional. Not all L590 model variant has keyboard backlit. Do you see an icon light on the space bar of your keyboard? If yes, press the Fn together with the space bar on your keyboard. Let us know how it goes.

I ordered my Lenovo L590 with backlit keyboard.

Yes, I have tried that. As I describe in the post, I have tried every step in this guide:

1. Check whether the keyboard has a backlight
2. Configure Lenovo Settings
NB! I can’t find the backlit options in Lenovo Vantage?
3. Check whether keyboard backlight can be turned on under BIOS or Safe Mode
4. Perform a power drain

Still it does not work. Any suggestions?

Is there a light icon on the space bar key on your keyboard? Could you provide to us the mtm or the serial number (via private message) of your machine for us to check if this model variant has one or not? Let us know.

We were able to verify that this model variant should have a backlit keyboard base on the serial number prrovided via private message. Since it is a new computer, we suggest you to reset the device to factory defaults. Follow the user guide: https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/l490_l590_ug_v2_en.pdf, on page 46. Before proceeding, kindly backup your files.
