Extended ASCII Characters in Login Password

2009-06-13, 22:23 PM

Can extended ASCII characters be used for the supervisor password?  I would like to use them to  create a strong password.  A character like the "A" whith an "umlaut" would be nice.  How do you enter the extended ASCII characters in to the password if they are not on the normal R61 keyboard?

Thanks!

I think, all these passwords in the BIOSof Lenovo  are NOT case sensitive. Try it.

Therefore just make your passwords longer.

jochen2d,  Thanks for the reply.  Yes, a longer password is stronger but you really get some security if you can use extended characters such as:

Җ

Dž

Ǣ

ʥ  But, they are not on the standard keyboard that comes with the R61i.  How do you get them into the supervisor password?

Thanks again!
