HELP!! ThinkPad R40 Model 2722 synaptics driver for touchpad not working, touchpad not working

I have r40 2722 model, with touchpad and trackpoint together, the driver from this site that suites windows xp says it is not  hardware compatible, it brings error message. The trackpoint is ok.

plz help,

much appritiation if it is as soon as possible,

If there's no UltraNav option in BIOS, your touchpad is either defective or not connected.

 

Remove the keyboard and check whether the UltraNav is connected to the motherboard, the cable is pretty visible once the keyboard is removed.

Thank you for replying, I have no idea how to enable it from the bios, because in the keyboard/mouse option in bios i have the

 

option only to make it automatic or to disable, nothing that says i have a touchpad.

 

need tour guide with bios thank you.
