How to update drivers with upgraded OS?

I wanted to update divers for L520 laptop. When I enter my info at 'drivers' my OS is not listed. I'm not sure how to proceed. Can anyone offer some tips.

I'm automatically detected.

I have L Service Bridge.

I have Automatic Driver Update but this doesn't complete when run.

This pc cwas original W7, I think, and now W10 and is a refurb.

Please help if you can. Thanks.

Re: How to update drivers with upgraded OS?

Hi @donfriesen!

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums.

If drivers is not detected by automatic updates, you may download the drivers manually using the Hardware ID from device manager.

You may also try downloading drivers pack directly from Microsoft but some features might not be compatible with your machine.

Regards,

Re: How to update drivers with upgraded OS?

Hi, Van. Thanks for a quick reply to my question. I would happily  manually download drivers but I am confused about which drivers to choose. The choices offered all are for OS which I don't have. My OS is W10.  Do you have any advice to clear my confusion?

I've tried to contact Lenovo  with my question but am refused access.

Which drivers, specifically, are you hoping to update?
In most cases you may need to visit specific hardware sites to search for some devices, like wireless or video.

I'm trying to update Chipset Drivers but Device manager has no listing thus stated. Which category of the many are for Chipset Drivers so I can find the Device ID info?

Thanks again for your participation!

Re: How to update drivers with upgraded OS?

Thanks for replying NATE S. I'm hoping to update/reinstall Chipset drivers. I don't know which Device Manager listing is for Chipsets. Can you help?

Also If you could help me for my future driver updates I would be most appreciative. Because the Lenovo driver page doesn't list my OS I need help locating them. Anything you say may be helpful.  Thanks.

A chipset driver, if one ever becomes available, might come to you via Windows update.

You might be able to find drivers for specific hardware devices, like video, audio or wifi, from the sites for the specific sub-vendors. For example, if the wifi card is by Intel, that would be the place I'd suggest starting. Windows update might also try to push drivers for that stuff, too, *if* the vendors supply the drivers to MS, and WU enumerates the device successfully.

Considering that the L520 is seven generations old, I don't think you'll find updates coming from anywhere else other than from the sources mentioned above.

Not the answer you were probably seeking.
Sorry.
