Intel Pro wifi card upgrade for R51

My R51 2895-AU3 has a  2100 3b wifi card that works fine. The hmm says I can

upgrade with a 2200 bg, 2925 abg, or a 3945 abg. Which is the best/most current

Intel Pro wireless I can use?   And ... any suggestions for a Linux live cd distro that

will run on this laptop?

Re: Intel Pro wifi card upgrade for R51

You can't use 3945ABG since it's a mini-PCI-e card, and your machine calls for mini-PCI.

If you're keen on Intel, 2200BG would be my preferred choice. Also, IBM (Atheros) b/g and a/b/g card will work just fine in that R51.

As for Linux, Ubuntu is always a good place to start IMO.

Good luck.

Cheers,

George

Re: Intel Pro wifi card upgrade for R51

Thanks for the wifi card clarification George! I had no luck with Knoppix or Ubuntu

live cds but Mepis 8.0 works great. I notice you dual boot XPP/Mint on 4 of your

laptops ... might give Mint a whirl on mine too. Thanks again!
