Ipod nano 3rd gen not recognized: drivers?

Any ideas on why the system (R51E, 1844-5GU, WinXPpro) won't recognize my Ipod (3rd gen Nano)?
ITunes (and Quicktime) installed and working. In the system folder, device manager, the Ipod is listed with a yellow ?/!, saying the drivers are not installed (code 28). Why isn't it treated as a standard storage device which automatically engages ITunes, or is recognized by Itunes when I turn Itunes on? I have looked around on Ipod forums and the problem may be with the motherboard and/or drivers missing.
Are there Ipod drivers here (lenovo) or where would I search for them/it?
Thanking you all in advance for your time.

I don't know if this will be of any help for you at all, but here is Apples troubleshooting article related to that theme.

Re: Ipod nano 3rd gen not recognized: drivers?

 Thanks so much!!!
I can't figure out why I didn't find this article when I was searching.
It didn't play out exactly as the article said it would, but the Ipod is now recognized!
 On to the next issue.....
 Thanks again.
