Keyboard problem L440

2015-04-16, 10:36 AM

I am having a problem with a Lenovo THinkpad l440. Whenever i use a key 2 times after each other the key will stop working for a few seconds and then randomly place a bunch of the same character or other keys into whatever i am doing. So it wil look like this: aaaaaa for example after i used the 'a' twice. And when i use the key Del for example it will just remove characters after a few seconds. Anyone has the same issue? And are there any known solutions for it? Already tried a factory reset and updated the drivers.

Thanks in Advance

Hi RoelvD,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

  • Confirm whether there is a liquid spillage incident occurred and when the accident occurred.
  • Confirm whether there is foreign object fall into keyboard and stuck there.
  • Boot the system into command prompt and check if the issue persists?

Best regards,

Hemanth Kumar

Hello,

There have been no liquad spillage or any other stuff that fell into the keyboard. The problem is with every key that i use. The problem perists even in the BIOS itself. I have had this problem with a Y500 before. This was solved with turning the USB-Always-On off. Tried this solution on the L440 but it did not help.

Regards Roel

Hi RoelvD,

Thank you for the reply!

Uninstall the keyboard adapter from device manager and check restarting the system once.

Best regards,

Hemanth Kumar

Hello Hemanth

Thank you for the reply.

I even tried to reinstall windows with no result. Also i tried all the newest drivers. Still no result.

I took out the battery and powered the machine completely down. Reboted the device and it is working okay right now. I think some static electricity was the problem. I will let you know if the problem returns after some use.

Regards Roel

I do not use the red button on my keyboard at all. Neither do I use a mouse but the cursor floats in any direction it chooses. Can I stop it from doing this?
