L380 not turning on

My L380 is not turning on. When I try to turn it on, the ESC, F1, F2, and F4 lights flicker for a second and then they turn off again. And repeat.

Previously, the computer was stuck on a boot loop. It kept restarting over the Lenovo start screen, but it's not doing that anymore.

I think the problem might be related to the charging threshold management. The problem went away for a while and I noticed the battery had dropped below the 90% threshold.

Did anyone else experience this problem? I was running all the latest software, the last time the computer started I ran a full diagnostics and it returned no problems.

Re: L380 not turning on

Hi @Pato987!

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums.

The Power On Self Test (POST) is a set of procedures that a computer runs through each time it is turned on. It ensures that all of the system's hardware is working properly before trying to load the operating system.

If the computer does not pass POST, it will not boot. Kindly perform power drain and observe if the machine will boot up.

  • If the laptop's battery is external, remove the battery.
  • Unplug the AC adapter from the machine.
  • Press and hold power button for at least 10 seconds.
  • Turn on the machine.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Re: L380 not turning on

Hi Van,

Thank you for your reply. I have already brought the laptop into a repair shop. It turns out the power button was defective and needed to be replaced.

Best regards,

Patrick
