I'm currently considering buying a ThinkPad. Mainly because here (in Japan) it's almost impossible to get a matte display nowadays and I don't wanna have a glossy display!!
Anyways, I was about to order the T510, when I read about the keyboard flex and more importantly the "high-ptiched noise" problem (http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T510-i5-540M-terrible-whine-noise/td-p/2198...). The latter is an absolutely no go for me! I'd throw the notebook against a wall immediately. *g*
I know that the same problem occurs with other manufacturers as well, but still.
An alternative would be the less powerful L512 (a bit annoyed by the 1366x768 Pixel screen, though).
Are there similar problems with this model? Can anybody confirm this?
Thanks a lot in advance!

My L412 doesn't make any noises out of the ordinary (I have the Core i3, 2.26 GHz). The keyboard flexes a little under moderate pressure, but it's not visible or feelable when you're actually typing.

Hi, I have the same question, but in the US. Very hard to find a place with demo Thinkpads. Does anyone know if L512 does not have the same noise issues as T510 and W510? tsunatuna, did you possibly find out the answer?
