L560 won't start

There I was, just plugging along and my L560 (bought Jan, 2017) turned off and won't restart.  If I connect the charger cable, the power button flashes 3 times quickly.  If I push/hold the power button for a few seconds, it will stay light for about 6 seconds and then go off.  No fan sounds.  No disk sounds.  Nothing.

I tried the following (resetting the CMOS) and there was no change

  1. Unplug the charger / adapter.
  2. Remove the battery. (If your model has a removable battery, not an internal one)
  3. Press and hold the Power Button for 15 seconds.
  4. Re-install the battery, plug in the charger / adapter if needed and power up the system to see if the problem was resolved.

Windows 10 (but doesn't even get that far)

Re: L560 won't start

Sounds like a real problem.  Are you still under warranty?

If not, I would try removing the memory and try to start.  Do you get the 3-3-1 beep pattern?  If yes, try a different memory chip.

Re: L560 won't start

Hi,

Yes, I'm still under warranty.  I guess there's no quick fix, eh?

Re: L560 won't start

I wouldn't try much of a repair on a unit under warranty.  You paid for the warranty; now is the time to use it.

Re: L560 won't start

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion.  I called the warranty support folks and they concluded my motherboard needs to rest in peace.  They're sending me a box and coffin.
