Question

I have issue installing the wifi driver for a Lenovo L512 (2797-5VG) with windows XP -SP3.

I am confused about the exact wifi chip, is it intel or realtek? The driver list for L512 have both...

I have tryed both without success..

I did install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0, hotkey and power managment but when I try to press fn+F5 to activate the radio, I get a message stating that there is "No supported wireless adapter".

Answer

  • Ensure that any external Wifi power switches are set to ON.
  • Check BIOS settings - press F1  at boot to enter BIOS
  • Ensure Wifi is enabled - also cehck settings under the security menu in BIOS
  • Boot to windows and check device manager to confirm type of Wifi card, Intel, realtek, or ThinkPad 11/b/g/n

Download and install the correct driver from the support site for your card type and OS.
