Welcome to the forum!

You'll need a modded BIOS in order to use that card in R500. Stock BIOS will not allow the machine to boot with it.

Cheers,

George

Modified BIOS, then whom am I going to reference this about then?

- Or should I just give up and buy a new laptop/notebook?.

I don't quite understand your question...

Your call on whether a new laptop is required.

George

There are forums that specialize in that type of mod. Google is your friend.

this dual wireless is not better than intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN.

I bought one T540p  2 weeks ago. I try the speed test. it just shows 2-3Mbps. My largest speed is 6M. And my old laptop HP with the intel 1000 BGN have the 5-6Mbps speed.

I try it using the cable. it shows 6Mbps. So  you know......................
