Lenovo R60 Issues

Hi Friends. My R60 is giving me a weird problem.

When it is on battery, it doesn't power up. Also when I shut it down, it restarts instead of shut down.

Everything works fine if I run it with the power adaptor. Once I get it on with the adaptor, after that I can remove the adaptor and work normally with full battery backup. For shutting it down, I again have to connect the power adaptor.

I'm stating just the basic problem, there are more improvisations to it.

I recently bought a new hard disk and did a fresh install of windows xp.

Also, I don't remember correctly but I guess this problem started coming after I updated the power management drivers. I say again that I'm not entirely sure about this.

Anyone who can help me with this please?

Re: Lenovo R60 Issues

Hi, LeoJane

Have you updated all other drivers for your system? If not, I would recommend doing that first. They can all be found here. Select your operating system from the bottom dropdown menu and the results should be filtered for your operating. I would make sure the BIOS and the chipset are fully up to date. I would also update everything else necessary just to make sure the computer runs optimally, but the BIOS and chipset may help your issue.

Best of luck, and let me know how it goes

Re: Lenovo R60 Issues

Thanks Gamloi.

I finally took the laptop to an authorised lenovo service center and they told me that there is some problem in the power section of the motherboard which they can only resolve by replacing it with a new motherboard as they don't to chip level repairing.

The new motherboard was too expensive almost to the point where I could buy a new laptop. So they told me to stay happy letting it run the way it is Smiley Happy
