Our Company has purchased 40 new SL 500 laptops 8 of the 40 Computers have the left Hinge broke and have been returned to Lenovo for repair. These laptops are in Service Trucks and mounted on stands. Some of them are using screen secure holders as a part of the mounting bracket. We are trying to decide is these computers getting abused or is this a factory issue.

how much vibration does your truck experience? also is there some sort of cushioning around the LCD in the mounting bracket? Finally how much space is there for screen movement within the mounting bracket.
SL series doesn't employ a magnesium rollcage like the R, T, W series. If these is lot of vibration, then it is best to use R400 or R500 series (outlet.lenovo.com).
The SL series were designed a desktop bound pc, so the hinge won't take much before it actually breaks off.
