Lenovo wwlan EM7455 issue on L470

Hello,

I have a Lenovo L470. I have now upgraded the L470 with a WWLAN card (EM7455) and installed the driver from Lenovo.

When I start the pc I can't see the new network in the networksicon.

In the devicemanager I don't see the new card under network.

So can annyone help me?

Re: Lenovo wwlan EM7455 issue on L470

Hi

Could you provide the wwan modem' FRU code or Lenovo p/n code? Their presence on the sticker depends on the store you've purchased the modem on.

Based on the symptoms you've described, most likely you have the wwan modem for previous generation of the ThinkPads, x60. Your answer might prove this version. Of course, the Wireless WAN port should be enabled in the BIOS Setup (Security menu, I/O Port Access).

Re: Lenovo wwlan EM7455 issue on L470

Fortunately, I wasn't right above, this card is applicable to L470.

So, let's try resolve the issue.
Provide, please, some information:
- OS version
- what drivers did you install
- Device Manager content in Networks Adapters category and, if it persists, in Other Devices
- open command prompt window (cmd), copy, past there and execute the following strings, one by one:

netsh mbn sh int
netsh mbn sh cap int=*
netsh mbn sh rad int=*
netsh mbn sh read int=*

Copy the outputs and past here

Re: Lenovo wwlan EM7455 issue on L470

Did you check out WAN Wireless port status in the BIOS Setup?

Ensure whether "WWAN Autoconfig" Windows service runs.

If options above are enabled and work, the issue might be caused by the modem incompatibility if it's, obviously, an old generation with faked p/n or even a sticker. I explained that mismatching in the 1st post above. Could you provide the modem' sticker photo?

If the assumption above is correct, the modem is absent in the system (and in device manager) even as a hidden device but might appear there by its loader port (as a hidden device, though) after laptop cold start. Select "Show hidden devices" in the View menu and check out the modem status.

Either the modem or slot might be broken.

Bios looks like this:

The WWAN Autoconfig service is running.

Here is the sticker:

I Select "Show hidden devices" in the View menu and the modem status says:

this hardware device is currently not connected to the computer. (code 45)

I uninstall this card. open up the computer and remove the card. after this I started the computer and shut it down. installed the card again an starred the computer again.

Now are the card gone. I can't see it when I turn on "see hidden items" how can I get it back?

I'm stuck

EDIT:

I found the card hidden in Ports (COM and LPT)

Re: Lenovo wwlan EM7455 issue on L470

I spoke about the sticker on the modem surface, not the one with IMEI on the laptop case.

Modem behavior matches exactly to its previous revision in ThinkPads x70 generation. I spoke about that case in the post #2 above.

Hidden device in Device Manager is just QDloader port, virtual device for modem' fw loading. It appears in the system in this case and is disabled upon laptop reboot. This port isn't intended to establish network connection.
