Processor Upgrade Thinkpad SL510

Hi all,

I have a i5 M520 2.40 GHz CPU from a Thinkpad T410 at the moment and wanted to know if I could upgrade my Thinkpad SL510 using this? The SL510 originally came with a T6670 processor.

Thanks

Re: Processor Upgrade Thinkpad SL510

They won't be compatible; they use different chipsets.

The T410 is Arrandale, and the SL510 is Core 2 Duo/Core Duo

Re: Processor Upgrade Thinkpad SL510

Righto, thanks for that, what processor upgrade would you reccomend for mine, on a cost/power ratio? I have 8GB RAM and 640GB 7200rpm Hard Drive.

Thanks

Re: Processor Upgrade Thinkpad SL510

I think your choices are rather limited on that chipset. Not too familiar with that generation, personally.

I think the highest you can go is a T7200? Not 100%.

Re: Processor Upgrade Thinkpad SL510

T9900 is probably the highest you can go with that machine, like on the T400/T500/R400/R500/W500

T7200 is a merom CPU from the T60/R60 era, if it was using that generation of CPU then the T7600 would be the max.

For cost sake, i would go for the P8xxx CPU or the lower entry level T9xxx FSB 1066 mhz CPU.

Re: Processor Upgrade Thinkpad SL510

no problem, SL series were the odd balls here. Apart from CPU i know absolutely nothing about this laptop.
