I have the thinkpad R40 and as of now it won't turn on... about a day ago wen i was on it the screen froze and blue lines appeared so i tried restarting it, for a while it wudn't come on and wud make one long beep then two short beeps, after restarting over and over again i finally got it on and it seemed to work fine but i decided to turn it back off and let it rest for the night ... wen i started it back on in the morning it came on and began to load my personal settings but the picture began to shake so again i turned it off and now it won't come on at all it just beeps

that could be an issue with the memory card or the motherboard.
Can you provide the exact Model/Type number of your laptop.

run this and specifically check the ram and the graphics card.

that is the typical ram you would find in your laptop, it is located under the keyboard and the underside of the laptop.

it is located under the keyboard and the underside of the laptop.
Sorry, but this is not the case.
The RAM on an R40 is under a small panel on the underside of the system. You'll need to remove two small screws to access it. You can find instructions here.
