Well, I have had the motherboard and palmrest replaced. Everything works good.

I have to praise polish, authorised lenovo service. Called them on Thursday, reported issues and on Wednesday my R400 was fixed Smiley Happy

Hello! Sorry to revive this thread again. I bought a R400 in March this year. I have a similar palm rest problem with the right hand side creaking. The hinges are slightly lose although not as bad as in the video link. So should i get service for my laptop? Mine have 4 year warranty.

From what i read so they will only replace the palmrest and not the hinge?

why not the hinge? Just tell them the tension in the hinge is to low, and needs to be replaced.

It's not good to be back with the same problem once again. 

 

Palmrest is creaking more and more, what an annoying sound:

Should they replace the palmrest (again) or the chassis?

I have a question for you regarding on-site service. As you know, a year ago I called authorized service center in Poland, because I had a problem with: palmrest, motherboard and hinges. Guy came, but brought only a motherboard and palmrest to replace. He claimed that at one time he may swap/replace only two elements. 

 

So, that procedure is valid worldwide or whether it depends on Lenovo Poland?
