R50e wireless

2008-12-15, 15:18 PM

This may sound a bit noob but i'm new to r50e laptop(got it for free, like it a lot!!)

i've read that r50e got Wireless lan but i can't find one in my notebook, it got the fn+computer button that starts up wifi, it also got bios information to turn on/off wireless lan but still no ifno in Device Manager no icon of wifi in taskbar.

Do all r50e got wifi by default or only slected models?

I've got celeron 1.3ghz M , 512MB, 30Gb HDD.

Welcome to the forum!

Could you please post the 7-character model number of your R50e (NOT the serial) to help us assist you better?

Cheers,

George

thanks for the prompt response George!

got another question though: the laptop got one flaw, something smoked inside before i got it and it don't want to recharge the battery, the ac/dc cable is a bit loose and sometimes when i move the laptop it goes down(no power in battery to sustain windows and no power on the cable).

I've found a remedy for that-external battery recharger.

does the battery in my laptop is by any chance similar/the same as OQO02(this recharger is for that kind of batteries), i've looked all around the battery but there is no information regarding this on it. this is a standard battery provided with laptop.

cheers,

Rafal

okay I am a new user of the R50e personnal laptop as well and i am having the same problem not being able to access my wireless internet options. The card does not show on the device manager let alone on my control panel as being able to have a wireless network unless i create one myself.  I am not sure of where to look to get the serial number for this laptop

The serial and model number, along with the production date, are on the sticker at the bottom of your ThinkPad.

Model number is in a 7-character form, should say something like TYPE 1830-AUY...

Once you find it, let us know what it is so we can direct you towards a solution of your problem.

Cheers,

George
