R52 1860 BUU, IBM refurb'. After some bad 'malware' problems, I just managed to recover from an NTLDR failure, and restored the original system using recover. When I went to type in the Product Key, a necessary letter 'Z' wouldn't work. all the other letters in the key worked ok.
'Gee, let me try the keyboard from my T41, just to get the system working'. 'Z' still failed, in addition to the following:
I don't know whether the Key Field allows all of them, or the FRU's are that differrent, so this is probably not a good test, but at least I have determined that the keyboard itself seems not to be the problem.
Any suggestions, or conclusions?

Now, there's a lesson I won't forget !!! And I answered one of my own questions.
The 'Z' I ws trying to enter into the Product Key field, turned out to be a '2'... and YES
the product key field is character sensitive.... Duhhhhh...
