R60e cpu upgrade options?

I receintly obtained a nice R60e 0658-A58. Can someone give me some idea of the possible cpu upgrades for this unit?

Re: R60e cpu upgrade options?

Welcome to the forum!

You can go up to T7600 CPU (if you have a Rev 3 motherboard) but much more needed upgrades from your original configuration would be more RAM and 7200rpm HDD.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

George

Re: R60e cpu upgrade options?

Thanks for the reply ajkula66.

I have memory on the way. That was the first thing I wanted to do.

Since it was a rainy day here on the farm, I decided to wipe the hd and do a clean install of XP on that machine. That made a BIG difference in the response. I had some difficulty getting all the proper drivers from the Lenova but only have 3 yellow tags in the device manager. That isn't a problem right now because I am going to take your advice and get a better hard drive so it will be done over and hopefully I'll be able to locate all the right drivers. After those changes, I'll see if I still think a different cpu is in order. In the mean time, the r61i is still trucking nicely.

Thanks again

Re: R60e cpu upgrade options?

I believe none of the variants of the Core Duo or the Core 2 Duo will work like the T5300 or T2450.  You'd need a T5500, T7200, etc., to get it to work.
