Re: R61 can not be boot up

yyp777, welcome to the forum,

Have you tried discharging the system?

Please let us know what happens when you have tried the following, remove battery and power cord, press the power button 9 times keeping it pressed for at least 3 seconds each time. Then press the power button a tenth time and keep it pressed for at least 10 seconds. After this attach the power cord, NOT the battery, and see if you see any signs of life.

If you can think of more information to post it would also be helpfull, such as; does the battery indicator light up when attached to AC? When was the last time you used the system and did you run any updates?

Thanks

Andy

Re: R61 can not be boot up

Dear Andy,

Thank you for your reply!

I tried what you suggested, but it didn't work.

When I tried to boot up, the light of "1" and "A" turned on and then off, I didn't hear the sound of the fan.  Do you think that motherboard is broken?  The battery indicator light up when attached to AC.  I don't think that I run any updates when it was broken several months ago.

Re: R61 can not be boot up

It doesn't sound good Smiley Sad

Handy with a screw driver? I'd remove the following; battery, hard drive, ultrabay drive, mini pci express card, modem card and the memory. Re-attach the keyboard and try again; if the system gives out a beep code post it here.

How to remove the components can be found at the movies or in the Hardware Maintainance Manual for your system.

Good luck

Andy

Re: R61 can not be boot up

Thank you for your reply!  I don't completely understand what you mean.   First, I should remove battery, hard drive, ultrabay drive, mini pci express card, modem card and the memory. Then what should I do? Just install everything back and try to start again, or just re-attach the keyboard without all the items I removed?  Then what should I expected?  The system gonna have a beep?  I should post whether there is beep or not?

Thank you for your suggestions.

Re: R61 can not be boot up

Removing all the hardware components will help diagnosis, basically you end up with just the power adadper attached to the system which will hopefully start. As no memory or other hardware components are present which could prevent the system from responding it should give a beep code, if it doesn't the mainboard has unfortunately departed Smiley Sad

Re: R61 can not be boot up

Hi andy,

I removed everything, reboot and still didn't hear the beep.  Is this mean that my maniboard is broken?

If the answer is yes, do you know what to fix it or you suggest better to buy a new computer?

2nd question.  When I opened my R61, I didn't see a modem  card, the place where there should be the card is empty.  Is this normal?  I bought it about two year ago and nobody ever opened it.

Re: R61 can not be boot up

did you spilled any liquid on the laptop, and did you drop it before?

You could try to purchase a post warranty warranty on the laptop through lenovo customer service and then try to fix it under warranty.
