RAM upgrade for L440

Hi all,

I have a Thinkpad L440 with 4GB of RAM.

I want to upgrade it and I have two questions:

1. Is it OK to add 8GB (so I will have 12GB in total) or it would be better to add 4GB in order to have two similar SODIMMs?

2. Are there any known incompatibilities for specific brands? I found two SODIMMs from Kingston (part numbers KVR16S11/8 and KVR16LS11/8) and one from Crucial (part number CT102464BF160B). All are clocked at 1600MHz.

PS: I beleive that I can upgrade the RAM without voiding the warranty, can't I?

As per the query we understood that you are looking for Memory up-gradation for your ThinkPad L440.

Yes, you can install 8Gb RAM, but make sure you are having same memory bus speed. Please find the below FRU parts.

03X6655 - 2GB DDR3L 1600 SODIMM

03X6656 - 4GB DDR3L 1600 SODIMM

03X6657 - 8GB DDR3L 1600 SODIMM

Thanks a lot for your answer. I did a search on Kingston's website and I found out that the appropiate module for the L440 laptop is the following:

KTL-TP3CL/8G

which I have already ordered.

The Memory which you have ordered is having 1600Mhz of bus speed and this will support for your system.

Hi, I ordered KTL-TP3CL/8G, by seeing this chat. But afterwards I went to Kingston Website and searched, then it was  showing another model i.e KCP3L16SD8/8). I have a Thinkpad L440, 4th gen i5(4GB RAM), clocked at 2.8 GHz. So I am confused.
