SL 500 temperatures

2011-06-22, 7:57 AM

Hi guys,

I have an SL500 laptop (2746 - 4WM).

I have upgraded it to windows 7 64 bit, and it has a segate momentus XT 500 GB hard drive in it. Otherwise, it is standard. (9300GS, T9400)

I am concerned about it's operating temperatures: currently speed fan is saying it is running at

GPU: 89C

HD0: 58C

Temp1: 71C

Core 0: 67C

Core 1: 67C

This is after previously running a game, and now just doing basic tasks on it, such as web browsing and im, for 15 minutes.

Are these temperatures normal and if not, what should I do about them?

I have also recently had issues when running games, where the laptop has just turned itself off instantly - when this occurs the laptop is very hot. Is this a self-pretection mechanism?

Thanks in advance,

Josh

The GPU seems a bit hot... CPU seems reasonable.

I'd consider repasting it; it might've dried out. The heatsink may also be loose.

A sudden shutdown is generally an indication of overheating.
