Betreff: SL 510 Windows 7 WLAN

Could be a usual manufacturing defect of Lenovo.

Maybe I should send my Laptop back and buy another one.

Re: SL 510 Windows 7 WLAN

Hi and welcome to the forum!

To activate wireless via Fn-Fn5, you need to install Hotkey Features, it's not apparent from your post whether you installed Hotkey to enable the device....

I would also suggest checking the BIOS to verify wifi is enabled in there. Booting from any popular LiveCD of linux distro will also help you in verifying whether this is software or hardware problem.

Keep us posted.

Re: SL 510 Windows 7 WLAN

Hi Maliha!

Thanks for that welcome and the idea using a LiveCD. It emerged that it wasn´t a manufacturing defect so I started all over again.

Functioning solution:

1) Reinstalling Win7 64bit with enabled Radio switch

2) Installing Wlan Driver Version <13.04.0000> (6MWS21WW).

3) Man HappyThat´s it!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I presume that the cause of the failure lies in one of the installed components from the ThinkVantage System Update.

Regarding to King11s post it could be one from Microsoft. Although I didn´t want to start all over again I installed some other drivers and programs afterwards. Hope that sb. finds out where dog is burried.

I would recommend to progress with:

4) Installing Rescue & Recovery as the first step (just in case)

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x64) for the Rescue & Recovery from Lenovo (reboot)

Rescue and Recovery® 4.3 for Windows 7 (overwrite all excisting files if prompt)

5) Making a backup with Rescue and Recovery

@Maliha where do you get your motivation for making round about 2000 posts without beeing employed by lenovo?

Best regards

Well, first of all, I like helping people with brief knowledge I have, secondly I don't claim I'm an expert, but I like to share this knowledge, not keep it as a secret (regardless of whom I work for)Smiley Happy
