As stated, I can't get the hardware volume up/down/mute button keys to work.
I've already installed the System Interface drivers + all the hot keys drivers and still no go.
On top of that, I have an unknown device that I can't figure out. I've ran UnknownDeviceIdentifier utility and none of the items identified matches the hardware instance ID of the unknown device.
Anyone here can point me to the right directions? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!
Have you tried running System Update to pull in any uninstall driver packages? Have you installed all drivers from the SL400 driver page?
How did you install XP exactly?

Thanks for the welcome.
I ran System Update but it didn't lead me to a solution. I installed from my copy of windows xp as the laptop was originally loaded with vista

please note. Install max 7 Updates per session. And some program must be installed in specific order!
- WLAN-Treiber und PROSet/Wireless (together in Lenovo-Pack) install and restart
- Powermanager install - restart
- Hotkey-Feature install - restart
- Access Connections install - restart

I have also had great difficulty with my sound controls on my brand new SL400. I frequently have to reboot in order to get sound from any audio program. At the very least, many audio programs, like RealPlayer need to be launched, closed and then re-launched in order for the sound to work. The system came completely updated with only a couple of minor optional udates to install, and none of thoe made a difference.

Hey guys, have you successfully installed the "Intel Matrix Storage Manager for Windows XP" for sl400 and sl500 series? coz I can't get it to work when doing a clean install of XP on my sl500. when I run 2ksetup.exe, it simply tells me installed failed in a second.
I had also tried this "Intel Matrix Storage Manager for Windows XP" for the T/R series, surprisingly, this driver can be installed, but the problem is in BIOS I can't switch SATA back from compatability to AHCI.
So which driver did you use, and if you are successful, how did you install it?
Thanks very much in advance.
