SL510 Keyboard misses strokes

2011-01-18, 15:28 PM

Last year i have purchased a new sl510 with Windows 7.

From the beginning this laptop is missing keystrokes in the rate of 5-10%. This is very annoying. It looks as if characters a, e, o and i have a higher probability to be missed when the respective key is stroked.

It also happens when using Suse Linux 11.1, with Linux it seems a bit worse, since Linux relies mainly on command prompt input.

When the system has a high graphical load, for instance remote RDP session to a Windows server, it seems to get worse.

I have seen several posts concerning this subject, but no sulotion that seems to work under Windows 7.

Question: Is there a fix for this or should the machine be sent back for repairment ?.

Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

For SL500, the BIOS update solved the issue, have you tried recent version for your SL510? http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/library/MIGR-73445.html

Hope this helps.

I have this issue with my SL410. I thought at first it was just me. But I have read others complain it has something to do with IE8 and IE7. Something to do with the erratic cursor flashing. I am working with other browsers and do not seem to have this problem. My advise would be to try another browser.
