I have a ThinkPad L421 and have set hibernation in the default Lenovo energy profile ENERGY SAVER in addition to standby. As set, the laptop should cycle from standby (15 mins) into hibernation (60 mins). While running on AC everything works as expected, however when on battery system goes into standby but does not shift to hibernation after 60 mins.

Windows is in original delivery state recovered from Lenovo_Recovery drive Q. All Lenovo software in default state. BIOS is 1.05.

In addition to the configuration settings in the profile of power manager, the sleep times in BIOS must be set properly.

1) Start the system and press F1 to enter BIOS at the ThinkPad screen.

2) In Bios  -->Config -> Power -> Timer Wake with Battery Operation

3) Set this to  Enabled
