Unknown Device on Device Manager for R61i

Hi Guys,

I have R61i, 8932EAU, with Vista preinstalled.

Someone helped me remove the Vista and installed with XP.

Now there are some yellow question marks on the Device Manager list showing several Base System Device entries and Fingerprint Sensor and Unknown Device.

I was told, this may due to missing/incorrect driver.

But the problem is, how do I determine which driver is missing?

Someone said, Fingerprint Sensor may not be available with XP, I don't need that anyway.

I clicked on these entries, the details showing  Hardware Ids as :

these are Base System Device

PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592...

PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843...

PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0852...

this is Unknown device:

ACPI\ATM120

Can the experts help?

Thank you in advance..

YSM

ACPI\ATM120

which can be resolved with

Re: Unknown Device on Device Manager for R61i

I would use the Lenovo program "System Update".

Install it and it automatically finds your software and drivers and keeps it up to date.

That didn't work, it just search for updates to window software and ThinkVantage..

Any other suggest, are we able to determine what are the hardwares associated with the DEV_xxxx and load the drivers?

Re: Unknown Device on Device Manager for R61i

Try the program device finder!

May be it can identify your device.

Re: Unknown Device on Device Manager for R61i

Sorry... that didn't help.. seems that need to buy the software before it works.

As far as I can see, there is a cardreader in the laptop, but it may be one of the unknown device.

It didn't show up as one of the drives on 'My Computer', nor, when I insert a SD memory card into it, it didn't response.

Can someone provide other suggestions?

Re: Unknown Device on Device Manager for R61i

Thankyou Guys.

I found the missing driver that's Ricoh 4-in-1 card reader.

Strange that didn't show up as supported device on R61i, with that driver, the unknow devices are gone..

But still the card reader didn't acknowledge the SD card I insert into the reader.
