WPA/TKIP with Linksys WRT54G

I cannot connect my R61i using WPA...it gets through everything except the last step, "waiting for IP configuration".

I can connect my older laptop to the same router using the same security, the Lenovo just doesn't work.  I downloaded everything I could find remotely associated with this from the Lenovo page.

Does this Lenovo not operate under WPA/TKP or am I doing something dumb???

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks, donnyboy

Re: WPA/TKIP with Linksys WRT54G

Do you have Intel or Thinkpad wireless inside your R61i? Figure out which you have and then go to lenovo.com and download and install the latest driver. See if the driver update fixes your WPA problem. If it does not, update the firmware on the Linksys router. Go to linksys.com and follow the instructions for updating your router.

Re: WPA/TKIP with Linksys WRT54G: SOLUTION=USE EXTERNAL WIRELESS CARD

Howdy to all,

I thank you all for sending in comments and suggestions.  I did indeed download the latest and greatest of everything and it still would not connect....so after spending way too many hours on this, here was my solution:

Plug in my Netgear wireless card ($15) and load the driver

Push the connect button

Enter the security phrase

DONE !  (connected WPA/TPIK)

If I had known this Lenovo was such a pain, I would not have bought it.
