cleaning inside of R61i

I live in a dusty climate. Could some one give me some directions on how to open up my laptop and clean out the dust build up?

Thanks

Re: cleaning inside of R61i

Thanks, but I looked over the table of contents and didn't see anything about how to clean or what to clean. Further advice?

Re: cleaning inside of R61i

you need to clean the fan and any dusts you see. Get a can of compressed air to blow out the dusts, for the more stubborn dirt, get a cotton tip to clean them off.

Re: cleaning inside of R61i

Is this a pretty easy task for an amateur? Or should I have someone who know computers better do it?

Thanks for you help

Re: cleaning inside of R61i

you just need to follow the manual that i provided link to and take off the palm rest and keyboard, it will expose your motherboard, and you can do most of the cleaning without further disassembly.

The difference between an amateur and an expert, is the amount of experience, and after a couple of go, you will call yourself an expert too. There is nothing hard in opening the thinkpad, but make sure you touch a metallic surface to remove any static before touching the laptop components.

It is fairly easy with Thinkpads, unlike HP, Dell and the other laptops.
