Hi,

 

I am a total newbie, so please have patience...:

 

I want to install a new ssd-drive, which is empty. I did create a DVD under rescue & recovery.

But on startup with the new hdd, it only offers me a restore option, not a NEW system. R&R also only created ONE disc, imho thats not enough, dont I need some more for the whole system?

 

And I cant backup the whole windows system, because even though its fresh its 80 gig (some data was taken along, dunno which)...

And thats my problem in a nutshell: I cant create discs with ONLY the windows install-system, or rather I dont know how - I now tried 3 times, and R&R burns only ONE disc, and booting from that, it asks for a recovery. I want a new fresh virgin system...

 

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I tried a couple of times, did not work. Had to swap back the old drive to work again.

 

System: Windows 7 professional

Lenovo L520

Hi elrik, welcome to the forums,

 

your safest bet is probably to order a set of recovery discs from Lenovo.  Once you have the system installed you can always delete the service partition, if you want to gain the space, because you have a set of discs.  Using Windows Easy Transfer is a good method for transferring files and settings.

 

You can order discs, (only for WE countries listed on the site), through the following link;

ok, found the problem, with no solution (?) - I can't create recovery media because ist was created once already. Unfortunately, that dvd was scratched in an accident (crate fell on it) and now I am stuck...
