Ok let me explain it as it occured I had the think pad for awhile and lent it out the guy put a usser password in it and i lost touch with him I want to experiment with linux so i charged the battery and when i went to open windows i couldn't so in a fit of anger i went into predesk and formatted the hard drive without doing any sort of back up. When i went to partition the hard drive in configure it was gone I only have wake on lan,flash-over lan and internal network option rom. thats it! my blue key dosn't take me any where besides startup interupt menu(normal start)+(fi config)+(f12 choose tempoary statup device) my predesk is enable and yes i did kick around the bios settings trying to get partition????

If you formatted the hard drive, the recovery partition is gone.

You need a set of recovery disks to re-install XP and get the recovery partition back.
