thinkpad r51 restore

I created restored cds for my thinkpad r51 but could not restore my system after upgrading my hard drive due to hard drive failure because one of the restore cds got badly damaged.  i made a backup of the ibm_service partition of the original hard drive before failing using acronis true image software. Can i restore my sysytem back to factory status using this drive image and how can it be done. Pls i need help

[ Edited ]

Use the new HDD and connect the backup via USB.

Boot from Acronis Emergency CD and recover/clone the recovery partition onto the new HDD.

In the next step boot from a Parted Magic CD (-->Google) and run the partitioning tool. Set the recovery partition as "bootable".

Reboot from Harddrive and recover your Windows.

Concerning the "damaged" CD:

Check it an clean it with a soft moist micro-fiber cloth.

Sorry i have been away for a while. thank you so much for the solution provided, it worked perfectly. I was able to bring the new driver to how it came from factory and I can also create new set of restore disks. You really are a genius. thanks once again
